the thing is, for Towrie, it wasn't just the start of the 3rd set.
He was the only player seemingly able to exert himself over UCLA the first two sets, he was serving really well before the 3rd, when he got the chance he scored from the end line 1st two sets, and then.....just kept it up and then some to start the 3rd.
Hayley Harward initiated the hot dog schtick a few years ago, when she was at LB. She did a good job. But, I have to admit that her successor, Jade Wascom, has elevated the hot dog into an art form. She, and the mustard girl, Jenna Giambi, are a pleasure to watch.
Great comeback for this young team, and Torwie's serving was the clear catalyst. All of the body language changed from the third set on.
One more to go.
#1) the Hot Dog and students are just amazing. placed smack dab between the two UCLA cheering sections, next to the UCLA students who outnumbered the, and with the UCLA yell team in their faces....they completely outdid the combined UCLA effort, relentless like the team & never stopped when down. what an incredible group of fans!
#2) aside from Torwie,
Godbold had to have had the quietest good match imaginable, digging balls, never got a decent set to swing at the first couple of sets, and then was terminal almost every time when he did get a ball.
#3) Olivier, well, he stunk the first couple of sets, passing, you name it, got yanked, and then made some big kills and got the receiving in order. aside from an overenthusiastic over the net kill
#4) Holdaway. unstoppable when he was set, including a too high poor set that he was able to tap to an open spot. His serving has got so much more consistent from a frosh to now
had to feel bad for Marocchi, assuming he started to provide some quick attacks to counter UCLA's middles, only....our passing stunk so much the first two sets he never got a chance to get on track.
& Torwie of course, evoke some flashbacks to clutch plays in 2018/2019 from Huus & Siegfried
the serving subs with Harlan & Sanborn this year have maybe been the collective best have seen over this run the last 6 or so years - they bring heat & movement on the ball and different looks....and they get the flippin ball in!! they may make errors, but usually after scoring a point or two
