some of that is simply maturing teh body, using teh body in a way a 6'1" guy has to do, I just don't see Hunter as a guy having the muscle his first year (unless he's weight training right now and getting some quality summer league time against high caliber players). It just doesn't happen.
I guess AJ adapted pretty quickly coming from Juco, so maybe, my big thing for Hunter is weight training to get his strength for a 3 pt shot (yes, a 3 pt shot is dependent on weight training) percentage up there to at least 35% minimum needed to be effective.
key is having two guys (say Rootegard and Hunter) being dependable enough from teh arc to fill in what we lose with SLater from teh arc. Previous Message
I see a need for a SG that can go to the hoop and hit a three. Slater could do both, and he hit shots when the game was on the line. I get the impression that Hunter can get t the hoop with impunity. But, he was a poor three point shooter last year (26%). Previous Message
it's no longer a game, where you need classic 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 type roles. we don't need two 'bigs' on the floor.
last year was by far the best a long beach team played with spacing, creating space for Murray & SLater, and even Traore later to go to the hoop and create offense.
all we need is to have a big not named Traore in the line-up, so does mean having Polynice and Stround (and another big if they can get) as guys that can put in 35 minutes a game on the floor. Other than that with Murray as a point guard, just need either Hart or Hunter to be guys that put in 10 minutes at the point. & then we just put 3 wings out there. One is Roodegard who should hopefully be more comfortable with his shot, and then again how well Hunter acclimates. Learning the spacing takes time, the good news is JOnes and Traore were guys that spaced well without the ball.
just don't see that we'll be as good as we were this year with TOs, meaning collectively need to be a bit better shooting team with as Jones, Traore, & Rotegaard make strides. lots of ifs and potential, really need one impact transfer a guy like 6'5" with muscle that can add to the defense mostly and can get to the hoop. If they can add a solid wing to this group, they could be a very good transition team, maybe even better than last year. Previous Message
