Tyler era undewray, overall a positive performance.
Beach wins 3 sets, LMU 1 during first 'competitive' scrimmage of the Tyler era.
takeaways
valuable time for the team to get familiar with Meyer, and more time for both setters to develop. Both setters Meyer and Chavira have all-court skills, and can attack, this is by far the best collective talent at setter since Hudson, before that Vargas. Chavira can play some at DS, opp, and setter if needed & definitely serving specialist.
Meyer will be a force at setter, good hands
Booth is physical, a ways to go, she's gonna be imposing by conference, and will become a force as a middle. LB's strength will be blocking, and the greatest improvement, and translate into some
Starr Williams looks better, IMO needs to develop 'explosiveness' is the best way can think of oto describe it (maybe having watched in awe of Kash who of course had that 'explosiveness'), it's like I would think she could go practice and play with the soccer team and get in a boxing ring, quick-twitch type stuff, she still has a way to go, which I think from watching is a physical training aspect as much technique. her form looked ok (to me at least). Hopefully staff has the regimen to get her there by 2023 season if not sooner.
for not having 5 key players out there (Hoff, O'Sullivan, Nembhard, Chacon, Schwarzenbach) hopefully didn't leave anyone out, the progress is in a very positive direction.
Lopez just has this uncanny accuracy and effectiveness for serving. It's almost like she's a close out relief pitcher to come in cold off the bench like she does and serve that disruptive and accurate.
Team is going to have depth like it hasn't had for some time, at setter, MB especially, OH, Opp, etc.
this team will be both a force and a work in progress.
