Andy Fee:
My resolution is to make LB State athletics great and do everything possible to put LB first. I will stop with the self promotions on twitters & elsewhere where I have been hung up on making these silly visual images that my publicist says I should do to project me as a leader, and instead use that forum for projecting Long Beach State and OTHERs instead. I will reach out to the rank and file boosters and fans and alumni to once again build up support fan by fan, alumni by alumni, and business by business and show any silly pictures of myself UNTIL the Pyramid is filled up regular and there is a sense of excitement about Long Beach State again in Long Beach. I should have realized the fans and alumni don't give a rat's a$%s what I look or project myself like, they care about LB being the best scholastically and athletically. Sorry it to so long to understand that.

Jane:
I resolve to retire this year! I realized I'm not energizing the university, and self-awareness is important.
I will also put back Pete in his rightful space on campus, attendent with acknowledgement of history and for the historical associations (good and bad) with the gold rush era in the development and admittance of California to the Union. and appropriately have a discourse on the development of California to where it became the greatest state in the Union to everyone in the US, and have critical thinking discourses on history, and noting that we don't have to 'obliterate' history to understand we learn/develop from it without some misguided need to hide 'artifacts' or 'symbols' of our University's founder, just because it makes some individuals uncomfortable. I will use critical thought to understand what is behind those that object to such symbol, and not just make decisions based on feeling, and also have discourse with those that disagree without being dismissive of them, regardless of the political pressure put on me.
I will stop talking about white privilege, as if any or every member of any race has obtained some advantage, because, well...some have, but not nearly all.....plus it's not that simple. Because if that's the case, there does even today exist some black or yellow or red privilege, however uncomfortable or 'not acceptable' it is to state that. And instead renew a focus on education for all to reduce poverty and improve education without trying to denigrate any one race. And I will actually push back on my boss, and reinforce that Long Beach State is a better Cal State (as would be any Cal State) when it expresses and enhances it's academic and athletic and artistic excellence and has it's own identify and excellence, and I will make academic freedom and excellence a goal, while celebrating the diverity that LB State has LED in our state long before I even got here. To that end I will ask the CSU office to formalize a change to Long Beach State University, which itself will enhance the CSU system.

I resolve to do better than last year, and let whoever wants to ride on my coattails continue to ride on them.

Dan Monson,
I will retire this year if I don't win a title. I resolve to start beginning next week to have weekly chalk talks with LB Nation to discuss basketball and come out of my shell. I have been lazy to convey any meaningful direction to the program other than for me to have a cushy job. I will model myself after the Jerry Tarkanian's who lived for drawing plays on cocktail napkin, and push the pressure defense for my team and players to their physical limits, because...well..there's no time like the present than to push them to the brink of exhaustion and roll the dice......it's time to take a little risk and get out of my shell

first of all, what in hades have I got myself into!
ok, that's out of the way. I promise to remind myself I took over a team with players whose goal had become more to not hit rock bottom instead of having players who were playing for a national title, and turn those players into players who will be playing for a national title. I will not listen to any of the noise and prognosticators who say the goal should be to be 'competitive' or 'contend' with the top 25 or this that, but rather the goal will be teach every players as if they are reaching to be on the USA Olympic team as well as an academic superstar. I pledge to have LB Volleyball composed of scholars and athletes that kick ass and are both humble and confident in that approach.
