I know of whom you speak.
And I agree.

imagine bouncing around from college to college,
whatever reasons
a player with a raw set of capabilities equal to the best
but so far not having the skills/habits because the mental focus, acceptance of instruction, focused repetition has been impeded by resistance to authority or other myriad learning blockages, never letting grounded fundamentals to develop enough to translate into a repeatible higher skill set level they could otherwise achieve
it's not the mistakes that frustrate what could be, you can see in the response to mistakes; not immediately realizing, but questioning calls, or hounding an opponents rebound, instead of always simply turning and sprinting back, slight aggressions that result in unnecessary fouls versus the calmness of having learned discipline to footwork instead; reaching vs. moving...
8, or 9, or 10 years ....and can the student now with this chance just 'let go' and get out of their own way, and accept and believe instruction, and in a period of 2 months methodically transform that potential,as determination only isn't enough, it needs acceptance/focus to fulfill that potential
it's tough to learn poise with a history of not having it, but if they can, the difference can be between between a title and same 'ol, same 'ol.
odds are against, but you never know, there is always time to form better habits....we've not had during this tenure a player that at this point of their career is positioned with this short of time to go, to make as big amount of progress as they could potentially make
will be interesting to see how it unfolds
