this is a really good job/gig for a candidate. better than quite a number of BCS jobs. lot's of 'hungry' candidates I'm sure applied.
bottom line is can they recruit, that's a tough question for an assistant to demonstrate Previous Message
I cannot see any other coach in the final four, other than Hildebrand, being a viable candidate. Hildebrand has all the ingredients to be the next coach so he has to be the one under consideration. However, the final four's coaches conference is the place where a lot of interviews are scheduled since everyone is at one location. Since the announcement is to be made early next week I have to image Fee is very deep in the hiring process. My guess is Hildebrand but ironing out contract details have derailed plenty of contracts. question #1: They made Tyler the Associate Head Coach, so that's one indication. It would, other than being in Nebraska, be a dream job for most any coach, what other program sells out 8000 seats a match? Hawaii in terms of an support, maybe. He'd have to be a finalist, who else would they go after anyway if not Tyler?
Question #2: would your rather live in Nebraska vs. SoCal? now, having said that, at the salary Nebraska provides, they can buy two homes. Steaks and brisket in Nebraska.
I think LB could package a decent deal, Dir of VB, Indoor HC, use of Pyramid for clubs, not how sure creative. It's not a money-making sport, HOWEVER, attendance has dwindled to 500, and a top 25 program could get back to close to 2000 with a good product, which at least would get closer to break-even. If I was Tyler, I'd want some indication that the players can get stipends, to provide some equalization to the BCS stealing players. the team has to produce 18-2 type seasons in teh Big West, and beat some top 25 teams in non-conf to really get the program to a state that gets the program marquee traction, the recruiting challenges are immense, probably drove BG crazy by about 2008/2009. Winning solves a lot of that, but your fighting the campus 'atmosphere' perception, and academic perception trying to convice students. you have to sell them on 2nd street/Huntington Beach locale, and pizazz, and SoCal environment vs. CSULB (face it CSULB doesn't move any needle that much, except for SoCal walk-on talent that wants to play and spend minimum on education - which is something.
It's competitive, trying land game-changers.

Tyler and Sabrina as an assistant would be the ultimate great scenario. Is it automatic Nebraska would promote him if Cook did retire or might they lean to an experienced head coach? Do Tyler and Kristin prefer living in Nebraska vs So Cal? The time for ending the suspense is nearing.

if it was Tyler, and Sabrina retained on staff, I can't think of a scenario more exciting for LB Nation
other options out there could be really good as well, the suspense mounts
heck, what if Cook won the NCAA and retired, then what'd happen then? Previous Message
it's hard to say whether 'multiple' stints really means a lot, frankly
not saying she's an optimum choice, have no idea
all these assistants tend to also have club/connections experience to a degree
she started her experience with Irvine, so she did 'work her way up'
again, it is curious simply because of the delay until next week
I was assuming Tyler has a salary as an assistant/associate on par with Big West head coaches or likely more, so assuming the school would have to be creative to land him, maybe even a longer term contract. he definitely has, and 5 years ago had just a good a resume as Joy, as Joy had a lapse in her resume after she left UCLA
and yes, Megan and Tyler 's resumes clearly show a broader background especially with recruiting
we'll see, the delay and timing has the 'hope' that Hildebrand might be the coach out there, but for all we know, that might not be the case
I can understand why the final four teams and if candidates from them didn't want any distraction

Lindsey's whole career has been with Fisher. I'm not saying she would be a poor head coach, but could she have any success away from Fisher? She does not exactly check the box for the "exciting" hire we have been told to expect. The others you mentioned (including Sabrina) have much more varied resumes and have all worked under a number of differing circumstances and head coaches. Megan has for example been at A&M, Oklahoma, Tulsa, and UCLA and that's a more varied resume and experiences. Sure without the success of Pitt, but how much of Pitt's success is mainly Fisher himself? Previous Message
what are Tyler's qualifications other than working with Knipe and Cook?
yes, Tyler also has USA Beach background, and has more qaulifications
the point is she's a proven assistant over a proven period of time on a program that has been on an upswing, and that is now in the final four, from California so wouldn't surprise if she would want to come to the west coast.
just saying, since the announcement seems to be tied to the final four being over.
the fact is, your comment along the lines of 'what is xxx's qualification aside from working with yyyy for zzz years?' will basically apply to virtually any assistant under consideration (whether that assistant is from Nebraska, or UCLA, or Long Beach, or fill in the blank)
I brought it up simply because of speculation (some of it mine) that could be waiting for Hildebrand, well it could be waiting for someone else as well, that's all
as well, is interesting that Pitt plays Nebraska in the semi-finals.
I think if Sabrina had been selected as HC we would have known by now, unless they are still waiting for some assistant to interview. thinking Sabrina may well be retained, depending on the search, on staff though. Previous Message
What are her qualifications aside from working with Dan Fisher for several years? Previous Message
while Hildebrand would be a great choice
there's another final 4 team assistant that could very well be on the radar.
University of Pitt assistant Lindsey Behonick
OC native, Concordia Univesity graduate.
don't be surprised by this one
