it's one month of data, with all the pyschology, rebound effect, etc.
she did a great job
it was frankly against bad competition for the most part.
and yes, her demeanor (when things went bad especially) was solid, especially compared to Joy's constant 'look' of confusion, sorry, but there's no sugarcoating that pained expression we saw for 4+ years
it's just a tough decision, in retrospect, there were warning signs beforehand; Joy trying to do two full time jobs, no check/balance on the coaching staff, etc.
it's easy to get caught up on impulse for ADs, Cal Poly gave their MBB coach an extension based on ONE WEEK of performance for winning the BWCT, hey it's what happens - especially for mid-majors where having a ONE good year can seem few and far between (as we all too well know)

While it's true Joy was a decent recruiter, it does not mean jack if you can't coach. Joy and Matt's results speak volumes as it was chaos out on the floor. Looking at your candidate list, check in with Tyler first. Doubt he is still interested but worth a try. Sabrina or Erica would be my next choices. Sabrina seemed totally into it and was showing some emotion which can motivate. If it's Sabrina there will be far less player exodus. Ericka has a ton of experience and has recruited here before. Of course there may be candidates your unaware of.. Previous Message
recent trend is women assistants, look at this list of potential applicants
big question regardless of hire, as this is likely to be an assistant, is can they recruit? to Joy's credit, she had some dec ent recruits, including a core of this team (Spriggs, Kash, Kennedy, Lovett, Mia,and more albeit she couldn't hang on to Mia)
I'll be shocked if this hire isn't a woman, but could be a guy, not trying to make a political statement, just that the pool of women assistants is so much greater than was out there just even 5-6 years ago
will be a ton of applicants
Sabrina Hernandez (Interim Head Coach, former UCI assistant, track record until a month ago wasn't anything special special, but has been about a good a month of coaching that LB has had since 2014) - can she recruit?
Nicole Proster (Vargas) - UOP, now Fullerton interim head coach, of which she'll likely get strong consideration to take over. Can she recruit?
Erika Dilliard - would she apply, a solid record up at Oregon, would she leave that, and can she recruit? latter years at LB weren't great recruiting-wise
Tyler Hildebrand - Nebraska assistant, question is if he'd even want to be considered
Malia Shoji, Utah assistant, Calif native, yep, related to that other SHoji
Megan Pendergast, UCLA assistant, solid UCLA team this year will be rebuilding next year.
Jason Borchin, Cal Poly assistant, solid record as Poly has become a perenial Big West contender.
big question is for whoever gets the job, is can they recruit?.
