As to this decision. It was sound, and good for EVERYONE involved.
playing out the season as a lame duck would not have accomplished anything other than the appearance of being 'nice' - which I guess is worth something
Joy / Matt get to move on, spend time on their club without the diversion of finshing the season
Players get maximum time to consider their future decision, as do recruits.
The interim staff time gets a chance to try alternate techniques or different approach to reinforcement of learning that may well benefit the players.
the team gets a new start
yep, it does appear 'harsh' to a degree.
what if the team had run teh table, it's not like they couldn't beat Bakersfield and then beat Poly who lost their top player to injury this weekend. a 10-0 run to end the season (ok, wasn't gonna happen) would not have changed anything, the team has been out of the race for a title by the 1st or 2nd week of title every single season under Joy.
Make a decision, move on, and then make a solid hire. So at least we are half way there to improving the state of the program NOW, versus making it more difficult by waiting until December.
there will be good candidates, hopefully Mrs Doubtfire stays out of this one, she lacks the critical thinking skills or relationships needed to make a good hire on this one
