I take it it's for salt water right? I've got some ideas for the front(biological) end of it. You have a series of frames that you can slide in and out from the top. The frames have filter medium on them. You can get eggcrate plastic(1/2 inch squares) at HomeDepot. Then you just pull them out and rinse them off lightly and replace. There are lots of forums on the web: www.google.com, where you can find ideas. For heating, you can use oven elements, and have your own thermostat. I put the guts of a regular mercury switch thermostat into a glass box that I siliconed together to control a transformer, that powered a relay, that then fed power to the oven element. You can use heating elements for hot water heaters as well......Hans
