Posted by hidden witness Most effective technique has been the use of "spotters" with radios that keep informed as to the movement of security/police. There’re always friends who want to come along but are too nervous about going in. Wireless motion sensors used for wildlife monitoring have worked above ground but range is limited. For those with the cash, night vision is the best option thus avoiding the one large drawback with night exploring - the necessary use of flashlights. Wear leather gloves and a respirator, not masks. A good respirator that’s rated for toxic particles / mold spores, can be bought at Home Depot for $26. Keep silent and dark and your chances of getting entangled with security/law are small. The same people that smash glass and tear doors off their hinges are the same ones that get caught by security. Stealth is your best protection. Don’t take spiked bats, knives, etc; they can be used against you. Instead, take a product like Counter-Assult – if it’ll stop a Grizzly, it’ll stop a gang-banger. Why we need to take these measures to explore old buildings is beyond me, but it's become a game of cat and mouse. Pennhurst is what it is, old buildings with a past. It, along with many other UE locations, will soon be gone - Danvers, Dixmont, just to name a few. Enjoy Pennhurst safely, make fun memories of adventure. To the cops who might read this, don't waste time chasing harmless UE, go get the real bad guys and leave us in peace.

Been to Pennhurst and Byberry about six times each. More interested in the history than anything else. Reading about the conduct of security/police, it's become more of a challenge of wits.
