Seriously consider the spay neuter thing.
It doesn't stop males from fighting.
It doesn't stop males from marking.
It doesn't make males less dominant or aggressive.
It doesn't make them fat and lazy.
It does prevent them from physically and phychologically maturing.
It does affect their immune, endocrine, and hormonal system which all are directly intertwined.
It may hinder the animals hormonal/immune system especially later in life considering our short-haired breed.
It does eventually inhibit circulation and the detoxifying process a dog naturally goes thru.
Here's the +'s..
When the female's chemical is in the air..the males receptors in his nose do NOT trigger the chemical reaction that transfers to his psyche to move in that direction no matter what the obstacle.
If done early..it takes away from the natural maturation process(psych) where males become more dominant and responsible throught the 2nd 3rd and 4th yrs establishing and solidifying their character.
If you have an very animal aggressive dog from the start..yo'll truly see it @ 4mo..altering him will take some of the inner desire to instigate..not protect..but instigating fights..it'll subdue that urge.
Same for a female.
It'll allow your female to trial anytime without the hassle of downtime thru heats and not eing allowed to train and especially trial in certain venues also it'll keep the peace with your team because a b###h in heat is a concern to everyone training.
Versa visa when you have a male and there's a femal in heat near the fdeild being altered win't throw him off as much.
Personally I leave mine as is for life. It's later in life that they need every hormone they can get their life systems depend on it.
To me cancer, sets in earlier on altered dogs than natural dogs. JMHO Especially when it comes to skin cancer/malignant tumors etc.
Get em in SCH now and start imprinting grips and tracking and retrieves if it comes natural.
Find domeone to help coach you whos good and jus train on!
If you're worried about the two making babies and you are going to work them..I'd say get the female fixed unless the male has drive out the wazoo..get him fixed @ 14 mo..and if the female is balls out very aggressive/confident you can get her done now jus she won't have as much substance as she would otherwise.
Food4thought.
