Sand Pit for landing zone? SWEEEEEEET!!!!
As you probably already know, Ring dogs have a pretty hefty long and vertical jump with a landing zone of regular solid grass/dirt ground. Since our dogs seem to hold up under those conditions, a sand pit would merely be a bonus for them!
My guess is you'll get a better turn out from the Ringers (although there are fewer of them) then you will the SchH'ers simply because ring already has the big jumps and it's just a normal part of training/trial. We should also look closely at the PP folks as they have a tendency to "over train" and sometimes push the extremes. Those dogs can be quite athletic, without the owners/handlers even realizing just how good their dog really is!
BTW, it's my experience that it's not just the smaller/springier dogs that can excell at big jumps, although they often do! But we shouldnt underestimate the bigger/heavier guys as some of them get some damn good air time too
I'd LOVE to attend one of your events and will bring at least one mutt.
