i'd personally be concerned about injuries because i want my dog to be able to compete in schutzhund . . . that's where my main interest is right now so i probably wouldn't enter him in a long-jump or vertical-wall thing and take a chance that he could injure himself and have problems doing the jumps or wall in our sport of choice . . . but then there's risk of injury in every dogsport of course . . .

: discussing these events on another forum;
: several interesting quesitons were brought
: to the table.
:
: First, how many folks are gonna be concerned
: about injuries, which I believe is mostly
: related to the long/high jump where the dogs
: land in the sand pit, and does this mean
: they'll avoid the sport?
:
: There was also a brief discussion about
: breeding specifically for these events as
: well as the quesiton pertaining to the
: availability of dogs already able to perform
: these events. In my second hand
: understanding of correct and driven pit
: bulls, it shouldn't be much of an issue.
:
: Certainly, we're on the right board to get
: some insight to the last question. Honestly,
: if in the next X amount of years this thing
: were to take off and I felt there was a
: solid future in it, but I was having a hard
: time finding competent dogs (even from the
: proven working lines), I bet I'd be willing
: to take the plunge and start a line of dogs.
: To me, many of those events encompass a
: large part of what makes the APBT who he is.
:
: All that said, if I were not having a hard
: time finding competent dogs, I would be hard
: pressed to convince myself that I should
: breed.
