Well, with it being a performance event, I honestly don't see why altered dogs wouldn't be allowed to compete anyway. Even the ADBA is allowing spayed/neutered dogs to pull now, and they were the only ones that I knew of that had a problem with it. That said, giving a percentage of the take to a select rescue is a good idea. Maybe they'd help pimp the sport.
Also, to comment on your reply a few posts up, weight pull doesn't really have the same impact as a dog flying through the air and possibly slamming down on the ground. I agree that people shouldn't be pulling young dogs, and I really don't like some of the weight pull clubs allowing dogs as young as 9 months to pull. But to compare weight pull to what we're talking about is kinda apples and oranges. As long as I was pulling Loki, she never got hurt doing it. But she jumped for a toy one day, came down wrong, and it was all over for that leg.
