: However, once the registry is in active
: operation I would think offering awarded
: "titles" to dogs who have
: completed the requirements would be a
: priority as an incentive to continue to
: train beyond the "backyard".
YES! To keep interest and have some stepping stones would be appropriate.
But
: this is only my opinion.
Mine also.
:
: It would be difficult right now to offer
: titles since our "main event" is
: only once a year. Once we have sister
: "clubs" offering events, with
: qualified judges/decoys things might be
: different.
Howbout a "Bradda's n' Sista's" club??
Heck, even at this point I'd
: like to see Regional Championships, but we
: need CLUBS with likemind goals to make that
: happen.
I think we share the same goals a'ready!
Me and you can be in one region. Western region perhaps.
WABA has certified(classified) Helpers why don't we?
Classify Helpers at the next National's!!!
At the least I could make it over again within two years of that to renew.
: Really, the sky's the limit on what we CAN
: do, if we have the right people with us ;-)
I've been looking at the Handbook and I'd like to break up the phases into titles.
I can have Trials at least once a year here.
There could be an achievable title for weight pulling, OB, athletix, confirmation, tracking and protection.
For an authentic Title awarded by the WPBTCA and a place on the list of titles displayed on the WPBTCA website, I think nuff folks here would try to title their dogs under us.
I can be a judge here and not compete. I'll save that for over there
: Hopefully Ron and Aja will chime in here
: with their thoughts/plans as well.
Perhaps HowardB as well and E.
: No chance you can make it this year Mati??
I'm gonna try my hardest.
Howbout a Helper Seminar @ the trial and a Classification for WPBTCA Helpers?
We could educate in terms of the responsibility and approach to maintain the legacy of the working APBT.
Perhaps we could tape it and use it for publicizing our goals/expectations.
It'd be great to invite the public(small fee) to the seminar, and after Classify a number of WPBTCA club Helpers to show what is necessary to catch/work these dogs safely.
Considering the growing number of APBT folks looking to train/work their dogs..Education is always best!!
If I can make it, you can use me for whateva you like. I'd like to bring a dog but I think that'll have to wait . . we'll see.
We've prolly got about 20+ APBT entering the pulling competition next weekend.
I expect up to sixty dogs. Twenty that are actually working right now.
The folks here have seen how I handle my dogs at our get-together's, and it seems that a number of them have found value in it. More folks are trying to approach training/working their dogs WITH control and obedience as part of it.
For me I've been able to say little and jus show how my dogs are well behaved..manners.
It seems to me that now some folks who before thought it was so cool to have their pit dragging them around, now like it better to have the dog sitting by their side cruising and saving the pulling for the track.
Our club is fully Ohana(family) vibe. We've never had a dogfight and I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.
The clubs dogs and members are growing.
It's simply a pulling club. Non-breed specific.
Every sesh somebody new inquires about ob training or gripwork basically interested in something like Irondog.
Lots of PitBull owners have buku pride and often status via their bloodline/lineage. Now they realize working the dog increases the status, marketability and value.
If we incorporate the Image(I hate to say it) slash Hype of the Working dog into our website, titles, kennel recognition....
this may happen.
We could have the kennels with titled dogs linked to the site.
There's so many ways to tie it together.
If one guy will pay three-5 G's for a 120 lb Blue, anotha guy will train his 65kb APBT to smoke the mutant in the competition.
Some big blue breeders want to show their dogs can work. More power to em.
I'm not prejudice by breed, color, size ANYTHING.
I jus want to see the dogs work.
I criticise the big blue programs to the breeders here themselves who spend big money on "breeding stock".
I tell them straight up "..people are gonna do what they want and I cannot stop them."
"All I can do is educate to the best of my ability."
Each individuals value to their owner/handler is site specific and I cannot tell anyone who genuinely loves their animal that their dog is a shitter.
I won't.
It's not about cutting down. It's about keeping the tools sharp, and available.
There's a couple few serious guys training with me on da side that have dogs from legit kennels. These guys have serious potential in the game
as handlers they and have their sights set on pulling, Ob, Irondog. They want to put a title on their dogs.
A WABA title is cool. A WPBTCA title would be proppa.
IronDog is GREAT because,
other than a GDT and perhaps BST by flying a judge out here$$. . there's no real working titles for all the pits comin out to work.
WE need an IronDog for the APBT.
The WABA guys had the right idea.
I feel our breed is more intellectually diverse AND more multitasking/cross-trainable to last more events with consistent success in training/titling.
We need a Path.
SCH has a fairly simple regimented, laid out path.
The investment is there. Mos cannot invest that much time n'$$.
In terms of a Schutzhund BH title..Schutzhund USA WANTS you to pass!
It's pass or fail.
That's what we need.
Your routine doesn't have to be perfect. It's the entrance after all.
We want folks to walk into the room. To come play with us!!
Who understands the working APBT better?.
We can post results here and make it legit.
If folks here had something to truly work for that was just not so invested as Sch, Ring etc...
I Guarantee I can bring in more and more members.
ESPECIALLY if the AmStaffs will not be prejudice against.
food4thought.
