I'm not exactly sure what the logistics would be of incorporating some of the radical pit bull activities into this organization, but I do think there's benefit to joining groups together rather than having lots of small fragmented groups . . . if all parties are willing to pool some resources, everyone can benefit.
I don't think the WPBTCA has to change its focus and start putting on the X-Games for pit bulls all of a sudden, but there are people out there who are interested in doing just that and IMO, it'd be good to build a good relationship with those folks, if not assimilate their activities completely into the club.
if we could get the group of people interested in working on this into the club and offer them something for their membership aside from the opportunity to take part in nationals . . . for example, assistance/mentoring when it comes to putting on this kind of event, since members of this club already have put on national championship events and know what problems they're likely to run into with logistics . . . they'd get to network with people who've been involved in the working aspect of the breed and maybe get some more exposure for what they're trying to do . . .
in exchange, the WPBTCA increases its exposure and maybe gains a few members and builds a stronger network, especially among people who aren't into the protection sports. if there are enough people like that who join up, and the club continues to grow, eventually that group of people starts to build its own "wing" of the WPBTCA and everyone benefits.
of course, i may be too optimistic about these things, but it seems like the club could offer support and help to new members who want to put on their own unique events . . .

: I think we should be one large group with
: different "Clubs" and work it like
: SchH. Ring... where we have club trials that
: represent what people are doing with their
: dogs in our area with direction or a minimum
: of working type events required by all
: clubs.., Some will fall into more Bite
: sports and others into more weight pulling
: and others... ???
: I am all for having a registry I think it
: would be a lot of work but worth it and
: necessary to preserve the working Pit
: Bull...
: I agree that we should try to include all
: Pit Bull enthusiasts ... Bully as well and
: try to raise the bar and get them plugged
: in.
: I agree with Leri about the AWDF (Go Ron!!!
: )
: And supporting OUR team and getting more
: qualified teams to represent us out there.
: Not to mention Making our eventS The eventS
: to be sought after in the Pit Bull World...
: I'm sure I missed a bunch and glossed over
: this a bit but that is some of my
