We got started 6 years ago. We decorated for a nephews wedding. Had a few of things. After the wedding we asked ourselves what to do with the few things we had. So we told ourselves that we would rent them out. So we started advertising. Put cards on every billboard we could find. Started advertising in a small local newspaper. Word got around after we did weddings. We used to call brides we knew who got married, told them about us. We then started buying and making stuff, and buying and making more and the rest is history. We hardly contact the brides now though sometimes we still do if we know them. We don't leaves cards on billboards anymore though we still should. You can also leave your business cards at hall renting places and at flower shops that don't decorate for weddings. We are not hired as consultants, we are hired as decorators. We live in a small town of approx. 13,000 population so I don't think consultants would stand a chance here. Good luck!
