"Blasphemy!" the dam gasped playfully, lowering herself to the ground, wings wrapped around her fragile form as she laid at the brute's feet. "But you're more than just my mate, Hali. You are my love and my life, my lord and my king. Wherever you go, I will always follow. Two hearts as one. Sorry, Love...but you're stuck with me now."
Spritey grinned at him, eyes sparkling with the same playful sheen that they'd borne when she first met the striking wolf. Ivory teeth flashed as she nipped at his ankles, urging him to rest beside him.
"Do not worry about Thanh," she finally added softly, head settling upon her paws. "He is a strong youth. He will ache, ache with the same pain that I feel every time you depart...but he will survive. He got that trait from Manasseh, and Manny got it from you..."
She paused as though thinking, and before Halifax could say what she knew he meant to claim, added laughingly, "Or perhaps he gained it from both of us."
Mirai chuckled, shaking his head and teasing, "I'm BLIND and I could have avoided that strike. You're losing your agility, Nathaniel!"
At her query, the young male gave a cursory sniff, rebuking with an evil glimmer to his sightless eyes, "Fine, we can keep 'im...but you get to suckle the little runt!"
Wisely, Mirai leapt back up and safely out of reach of his sister's retaliation...one he knew was coming, probably over-do in its fury.
