Spritey leaned in towards her mate, taking comfort in the presence she'd been so long denied. At his words, she couldn't stifle a small laugh.
"Until your dying day?" echoed the dam with a playfully-quirked brow. "I might need a tad bit more assurance than that, Halifax. You've been dead before and didn't yet love me..."
Smiling weakly, she nestled her head beneath the ebony brute's chin, her ivory fur mixing with his to create the silver-grey shade of the lost daughter from their first litter.
"I love you too, my Halifax - now and forever, anywhere and always," Spritey whispered.
Mirai d'Halifax grinned toothily at Ani's reaction, lifting his plume and standing up, twirling around quickly to swat at his younger sister.
"Don't challenge a daredevil," he advised, settling back down smugly.
Joukai blinked, then waved a paw in front of his face, features pulled into a look of mild disgust.
"Your breath smells funny," stated the little Thorn, gradually losing sense of his fear. He gave her a meek little smile, the expression nearly as charming as the ones once boasted by his manipulative father.
