I just realized how new you are, welcome! But, since you're fresh to the Mountain, it would probably be best if you got in some practice-battling prior to challenging the Alpha of a pack (as there are several technically-involved battling rules you should be familiar with before attempting to stake a claim). Battling mannerisms seem to be the predominant weak-point for most newbies, and unfortunately, few oldbies have their patience intact after a few such encounters. Joining's perfectly fine, as there's no battling for a place in a pack like in real wolfen societies, but you will have to be okay'd by the Alpha.
