It's not that Lestat was worried... (except that he was). His timidity was simply a precautionary action. He didn't want to create anymore tension in an already uncertain meeting. This was what he was telling himself, anyway. Katannah's reassurance had actually managed to reach what was left of his pride. He didn't want to be treated like some shy little pup in public. Not that he blamed her, of course, but he couldn't entirely ignore the little prick of embarrassment, and it showed in his posture as he raised his head and stood a little taller. "Do what you have to," he murmured. "I"ll be here if you need me."
