Hades shivered as her small, red puppy paws struggled to move the earth out of her way. She was in that odd stage where some things had grown and other had not, making it extremely difficult to perform simple tasks... such as digging out a den. Dull canine claws chipped at the frozen ground, steadily making a slow progress. She'd been at it all day and it was almost done. The spot she'd chosen was for warmth as much as protection, the entrance beeing a clean thirty feeet from her alpha's den. However, the entrance was rather misgiving. It was fairly far away, but the tunnel was long, leading to a room underneath that was separated only by a two foot wall from Kahann's and his family. Ingenius in her opinion, for it let her share the warmth of their den with the wall being strong enough to prevent a total collapse. Smiling to herself as she removed the last bit of dirt to her task, Hades only hoped her alpha would not be angry.
Standing at the entrance, a cold wind shook the fem's black coat, leving her to shiver again. Hades knew it would be more homely if she brought in some leaves for a bed, but she was tired and cold. It would have to wait for another day. Crawling through the small entrance that she planned on making wider very soon, she made her way to the back and lay herself against the wall that separated her from the other family. The warmth could already be felt even though they were not sleeping in there. Leftover heat from the night before warmed the wall, warming Hades as well. She sighed to herself, setting her head on her red paws and shutting her crimson eyes. She couldn't sleep, but perhaps some resting would come in handy. After all, she'd traveled a long way and spent most of the day hacking at the earth. Her muscles were sore and tired, burning their complaint as they finally lay to rest.
