Posted by Roux, Halifax, and Thanh on 3/30/2005, 6:26 pm, in reply to "((For Hali et Thanh))" The red-hued wolf stretched his leg abruptly, and sighed with relief as he felt the bone slide back into place. Picking up his backside from the slippery ground, he snarled and hesitated, unsure of what to do. He kept his neck close to his body, knowing that the great vein was what Mirai aimed for. Raising the opposite paw, he brought it down hard upon his opponent's face, a dazzlingly powerful blow. He snapped at his brother's face at the same time, hoping the graze of his teeth and the vicious strike would finally make Mirai loose his deathgrip on his shoulder. He knew the leg was useless now, and would be for some time afterwards; he could barely stand upon it, much less move it. The chilly wind picked up, stinging the wound, and he inhaled sharply between his beared teeth. Moro, that hurt! Roux had forgotten that his vital artery was exposed as he turned his neck to snap at Mirai's face. He took the fact that the younger wolf was blind for granted, and figured that Mirai's other senses were just like his own - when in fact, they were much more honed than his. Little did the older brother know that Mirai could hear the pounding pulse of his jugular, and would recognize the sound as it came closer to his ear. Halifax watched the scene with stern golden eyes. He wanted neither of his sons to die, and would intervene should one of his "boys" come too close to death. Why Roux was being so foolish in exposing his neck was beyond Hali. Had he really trained him that badly? Given, he was not much of a fighter at all, but hadn't he some skills he'd passed down to the auburn exile? Mirai, however - he was a genius. Hali, however, could not claim any of the moves that his youngest son presented, and that made him mournful. While his son had grown, he had been away - given, not exactly in a tropical paradise, but he had not seen Mirai's growth... and it saddened him. Thanh whined impatiently. Would they stop soon? He, like his grandfather, favored Mirai, but neither wanted Roux dead. Thanh prayed Hali would step in soon...

Roux slipped on the icy ground, his own dull claws doing nothing to keep his grip upon the slippery surface that was the earth. His hind limbs gave in, buckling under the force of his brother's thrusts down upon him, and something inside made a sickening pop as a joint slid out of its socket. Roux winced, pushing back with his forelegs and thusly injuring his shoulder farther and trying to get Mirai himself to fall. Perhaps that would give him a few vital seconds to repair the joint...
