Posted by Celtic Sprite on 12/30/2004, 8:52 pm, in reply to "..Frost Bitten.." The antics of the litter caught her attention now, and she watched with avid amusement the individual personalities of each action. Lulu's blind approach did not surprise her great-grandmother. Spritey would have been more surprised if the impulsive little lass had stayed snug beneath the cover of her dam. She was a daring one to be certain. Another smile tugging at her lips as the other two announced their presence, Spritey knew she'd found nicknames for them. Kili, the Darling. Darken, the Demanding. Lulu, the Daring. Lulu was already shaping up to be her favorite. And, true to grandmotherly form, she glanced upon Darken with only affection...even with his hauntingly brutal eyes. Halifax's voice snapped the ivory fae from her musings, and she nodded at his suggestion. "Alte, if you would like, you and your litter are more than welcome to stay in the Main Cavern," she invited, turning a fond wink on Thanh. "It is both deeper and more protected by the forest. The walls do well to keep in warmth and the clearings allow for curious little scamps to escape parental watch, yet still find themselves in safe lands." Mirai lifted a lip savagely in the direction of Roux's snide commentary. His auds were flat and paws spread, tail standing straight as a red-wood's trunk as he glared sightlessly between the trees. "I do not need vision to detect your pathetic presence," growled the brute, hackles lifting. "You lack the intelligence of stealth, stand out like a beacon in the night: obvious as a sinner amongst angels." For one whom had never met nor heard discussed the failures of his Father and Mother's second litter, Mirai's own taunt hit hard upon the truth. The scent of another rushed into the snow-sprinkled wolf's nose suddenly, and a smirk of his own drifted across his muzzle. Ani was near. A low rumbling emerged from the depths of Mirai's lungs, a warning he'd used when they were pups to ward her away. He could more than deal with this little "problem" by himself.

Spritey smiled at her mate and grandson, knowing that after a terse exchange, things would finally settle into how they should be. Her family was home and safe, and while momentary disappointment would be a constant plague - had been for the entirety of her life - nothing could ever dim the all-consuming affection she held for them. They were her only reason for living, after all. If Halifax ever again disappeared from her side... The wolfess shivered and moved closer, brushing her cheek against his strong neck to reassure herself that he was really there. He would always be there. Her heart had ached with a never-ending pain in his absence, it would surely break when put yet one more similar trial.
