This sunday I tried to take a crack at fishing for smallmouths near ruggles reef and off the "castle" west of vermillion. Though we cruised through a large area of water, zig-zagging all the way up into the shallows, we only started to mark fish from 10 feet up to even 6 feet!! We fished jigs and minnows, but only caught a couple nice sheephead. Can anyone give me some pointers on locating smallies in these areas, and how to catch them. Im having trouble marking fish consistently in these areas. And do people catch smallies in 6-10 feet of water often? Thanks
