There are 2 things that I think could be causing the pain. Either the rods are hitting a nerve which is causing the pain or your rods are "breaking" or coming done. Since the surgery was done such a long time ago that really could be the case. I'd ask around and find the best orthopedic surgeon you can. I hope this in some ways helps you. Good Luck.
