I am a 21 year old male with a 40 degree left thorocolumbar curve and grade I spondylolisthesis. I have been experiencing quite a bit of pain on my left side where my spine curves, as well as leg, buttocks, and hip pain. My doctors seem to think that it's the spondo causing the pain and not the scoliosis, but I am not convinced. Does anybody have a similar situation or heard of anything like mine? The most conservative treatment I have been offered is an L5-S1 fusion for the spondo only, but if I get surgery I really want to see correction of the scoliosis as well as the spondo, but this may be asking for too much. Also, I am a graduate student now and I am worried that 3 months in the summer may not be enough time to recover from a fusion before the fall semester starts. Any feedback would be appreciated...
