I had posterior surgery at 41. It was/is a long road to recovery. I had to relearn almost everything because my muscles were so weak after surgery. I relearned how to sit, get in cars, pick things up off the floor. Right now I can pick up tinnis ball or a roll of tape off the floor. Someone else might be able to pick up smaller things off the floor, my knees aren't that good(I had some surgery on them). I would think the anterior and posterior is more painful than just posterior because you have more incisions to recover from. They wouldn't do the posterior and anterior surgery on me because of other medical problems. As far as golfing, I am not sure which is better. Twisting and bending is very hard, almost impossible to do with just posterior fusion. I am fused from T1 to L4. Hope this helps.
