There are a whole lot of people in this world who've had to have their whole spine fused and live very comfortably. Most in America with severe scoliosis have that kind of surgery and I've never heard any of them say, "I hate it because I can't bend." In reality they can bend over. They just do so at the hips. So if you can completely stabalize your scoliosis with another fusion then you won't have to worry about your scoliosis ever again. Maybe your doctor can fix both that and your ribs at the same time. 49 degrees is bad enough for surgery. I know it's really saddening for you but try to think of the positive outcome that surgery will have on your life. Good Luck.
