I am new here but I wanted to share my story. Recently I have been on teh web looking up different things about Scholiosis and all I am finding are horror stories.
I had the operation 24 years ago on my 12th birthday. I am now 36. Of course the surgery was hard for a child and my parents as well, but at that age I convinced myself I would be normal. I had a normal childhood and grew up pretty normal as well. I do not have alot of problems, some aches now and then, and I can bend completely over and touch my palms to the floor. I recently had x-rays on my back taken, because you are suppose to have them taken the rest of your life for every so many years, and the surgeon said my back looks good even now. I have children and that did not seem to affect me either. I beleive Iam a success story and I just want people to know that this surgery can improve your quality of life. I had a degree of curvature that had to have surgery and I noticed myself in pictures leaning to one side and God knows what would of happened if I never recieved the surgery!
