Good question...depending on the type of surgery you have...it will take you PROBABLY up to a year before you can probably lift 75 pounds. That's how long it took for me. You have to wait until your fusion is complete. After your fusion is complete, then you can lift anything...your back is probably still going to get irritated though! My still does...so having the surgery isn't going to fix the irritation...it will just stabilize your scoliosis and prevent it from getting worse with age. This is just my opinion...you should talk to your doctor about how a 30 degree curve will affect you when you get elderly if it's not corrected. Then take that information and make your decision. Also, other people's back may not irritate them after fusion but mine does a bit...with lifting and straining. Anyone else have anything to add?
