Your situation sounds horrific. I do not know about rods causing bulging disks etc. It is possible that arthritis is caused from it though. My advice to you is to get a 2nd opinion. It's very important that you get as much info as possible. I don't know think your surgery would require 3 months out of work. That sounds a little long. From what I've heard, it usually takes around a month to get back to daily activities. Regardless, I would do whatever it takes to fix it. With a baby you are going to want to be at your best. Even if it requires surgery and being out of commission for a few months.
