Im so sorry. We all have a bad day once in awhile but your story takes the cake. I really dont like lunch shifts for all the reasons you mentioned. "I will have an ice water with lemon, and chowder and salad please. Oh and can I have some of that free bread too?" ALL FREAKIN SHIFT. Then you end up ringing up 200 dollars all lunch and make 20 bucks. No money to tip out anyone, so they arent happy, and what can you do? At least our managers work. I feel sorry for you. The manager sleeping? WTF? I would be pissed. I am glad I now only work lunch one or two days a week when necessary. When school starts in Sept. I am going to get off lunches all together as I will have to be up early AM's to get my kids off to school and then I want to be able to sleep, and maybe do things at the school sometimes. I hope she will put me on 5 nights a week in the bar. That would be cool. Bar seems to run smoother or something, dont ask me why its just better for me.
Have you started looking for another job yet? I would if I were you. It sounds pretty miserable where you are. I recommend a steak house of some type. I would recommend my company but there are not any where you are. Good luck where you are until you find a new place.
