According to the etiquette pundits, the proper thing to do is wait until everyone has finished before clearing the table. Based on the previous posts, most servers use their own discretion, which I think is the smartest thing to do. But sxybtch was penalized by the customer police for doing the right thing. Ergo, if the secret shoppers are so ignorant about proper etiquette, just how credible can their evaluations be?
