I will not clear a plate until the whole table is finished. I feel it s plain rude and would hate if a waiter starts to clear the table while i am still eating or while my girlfriend is eating. It s pushy. In some cases if the customer asks or if he puts the plate on the side of the table, I d take it no problem but otherwise I think it is a faux pas. Still a lot of customers that arent used to dine think that it is wrong to wait until everyone is finished ...at least here in southern california
