I was going to do something productive during my lunch today… but whatever, here’s my preseason analysis for the Thursday night teams:
Thursday Night Old Teams:
Unfortunately Abdoo beat me to the punch on pointing this out, although he only mentioned his team. Apparently birds of a feather flock together and more so if those birds have been flocking for a long time. “Short Flick/Long Hammer” the Nabity Team, in addition to age, has the Duane/Byron handling duo; which if I’m not mistaken were part of the championship winning, “Who Hucks to the Huckers” team from last season. However, will they be as effective without Gries and Ozdoba? Probably not.
The other old team is “Huck My Life” the Cole/Kaetlynn team. This team’s years of experience are brought to you by X-Ray, Al, and D-hey! Don’t get me wrong, I love these guys, hell I’ve even drafted some of them in leagues past, (Yeah Ray) but at the end of the day Cole is going to need to play a lot of points to balance things out… oh never mind, Cole’s a line hog anyway.
Thursday Night Teams that might do something:
If there were one girl in league that would be mentioned when talking about people who love to put the disc deep, that would be Nicole. If there were one guy in league that would be mentioned when talking about people who love to put the disc deep, that would be Vince (or Nigel but ignore him for a sec). Put these two on the same team and you have “Lima” the Nappi/Fleming team. Combined with Debbie at hands, and Roesch who I hear is pretty quick, they might turn some heads this season.
“Huckalumps” by Bill/Kristin. This team has some players that have heart, and heart goes a long way in league. But will heart be enough? Lets face it, Tricky is not a machine, and will make turnovers if he’s trying to force something. If this entire team steps it up, they could do something, but like I said, Tricky is not a machine.
Thursday Night Team not to under-estimate:
“Clown Syndrome” Don’t under-estimate Boyscout/Mel’s team, seriously, they have some tall players. It’s going to be hard to put comparable height on Big Nate and Skyler at the same time. Then have someone left over to make sure that Hatch doesn’t Huck it to them. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they also have ‘Mr. Pee in your Butt’ himself, Dixon. Lets face it, no one playing on Thursdays can guard him well, they can just do their best.
Thursday Night Favorites:
What’s the difference between Jam and Jelly? If you don’t take care, you may find out from “Jelly it up the Sideline” the Studer/Jennga team. While having a full line of ladies that simply know how to play, the guys line includes Studer, Nardi, B. May, Bum, Quick Jeremy and Ebay (Here’s the obvious reason why this team is listed as the favorite). This team has depth, one of the single more important things you can have in VOTS league. (Unless you’re Sam and have Big Nate on your team) This team also has speed, but will lose some speed as soon as Ebay sprains an ankle. If this team can gel they’ll be giving any team a run for their money.
