i love this game because there is the least amount of bickering compared to any other sport. for the record I did play kickball on Tuesday and even that has it's squables/jerks.
i would attribute the lack of calls the first five weeks to the extreme spirit of the game. vets and captains alike just want nooBs to learn how to play and have fun. Within reason i don't see anything wrong with fouls, travels and picks being called more often. Players should understand the game better and hence more violations should be called.
The rules are there to even the playing field, however, this is just a fun coed league and should be enjoyed as such.
