What team did you play? That probably has a not to do with it.
As an outsider, looking in this season, from experience there always seem to be one team--and a handful of players--who take league a bit too seriously. I'm not suggesting the fouls/infractions not be called. But it can get a bit extreme sometimes.
My only advice for a noob is stick with it, and take it with a grain of salt. If Ultimate ceases to become fun (which it never should, despite the overly competitive league players), have you thought about kickball?
