"But, you have to agree that when you see the lettering "hcuk", you think "f*ck". If you didn't, then the shirt would have no appeal. It's just a clever way to display a naughty word. You can argue until the cows come home, but the reality is that if you didn't think the shirt would make other people think "f*ck" then you wouldn't even care. Otherwise, someone would have proposed the shirt "pcik" or "cnoe" or "plul" or "znoe" or "stlal" or "trvael" or "Seven-the-on-line" or whatever. But guess what, they didn't, because those shirt ideas are dumb and boring. Why? Because none of them illicit the reaction of "f*ck". You know it. And, you also know that anyone that doesn't play ultimate or has never heard of ultimate will undoubtedly look at the letters "hcuk" and think "f*ck". "
No. I don't *have to agree* to that. This is all contingent on being a reference to FCUK. If I find this funny at all, I find it funny b/c it's mocking the childishness of *that* logo. "Pcik" and "Cnoe" and all those others don't make me think of French Connection. You're trying to pin this down as potty-mouth humor, and I disagree that this joke is that simplistic*.
I still think it's debatable whether if you show "hcuk" or "huck" to a non-Ultimate-lingo-literate audience that "hcuk" would automatically be more likely to make you think F***. Of course, I have no way of knowing that. Is there an empiricist in the house? So maybe defaulting on the "you know what, people are retarded" side of caution is a good idea, but don't frame it as "if you find this funny you're sophomoric."
* - I know, I know, it's not like this is the clever joke to end all clever jokes, but as Josiah started this off, it's at least a step above a cactus playing Ultimate.
