I think it's great that we talk about these sorts of things. It's important to VOTS that people are willing to have discussions and be involved. Now, without expressing a personal opinion, I will say this: Nicole put it best when she said that it's important that VOTS create t-shirts that everyone feels comfortable wearing.
So, as someone asked, Who decides? Well, inevitably, every decision is made with the approval of the VOTS Board. Of course, some decisions have been left with certain folks, such as me regarding league, or Justin regarding NYF, but final decisions are part of the Board's responsibility. With Keith being the current VOTS Board President, it's difficult to argue that he doesn't have the right and ability to make last second decisions of what is, or is not, in the best interest of VOTS based on his experience, opinion and history with the organization.
The question you really should be asking is, How do I make sure future decisions don't squash one of Ultimate's primary goals to "be creative in every possible way?" (tongue-in-cheek)
And, to that I say, Great question!! It just so happens that Keith is stepping down as President of the VOTS Board. Applications are now being accepted. If you don't like the way VOTS is being run, or the decisions that are being made, or the lack of creativity, then step up! Now's your chance. The Board is looking for people just like you to help make VOTS a better organization. You can only do so much with a soap box and dream. Seriously. Get involved.
GOOOOOOOO LEAGUE!!!!!
