Boot off the cd, run cfdisk, take the extra space and make two partitions: the first one use 90% and make it an ext2 or ext3 file system (I do 2 simply because its basic and known to work) then make the other 10% a linux swap. Run setup and follow the instructions, when it asks about lilo bootloader, tell it to auto configure - its pretty good about finding the windows xp partition and making that an option. you're gonna have to write it to your mbr, or else windows will just default over it. Its no biggy if you #### your mbr up - you just reinstall windows - just make sure you have the stuff you want to keep all backed up. (I now have a 4 disc ghost image of my barebones system :D)
