I just wanted to say I'm very impressed with what you guys have done with the organizing an active Formula racing scene down there. I think your racing scene has been inspiring to some of us up here in LA to get some things going. Robert wrote: SURELY we MUST be only but a small fraction. At least one guy picked up some used Formula gear this weekend. Some good, fast sailors who've previously looked the other way when it came to Formula gear are now starting to consider getting into it. P.S. I, personally, certainly wouldn't be pushing for Long Beach races to count in the San Diego Formula points standings. And yes, I was at that Techno event at Long Beach in 2001. Very marginal conditions on that Saturday of racing, and then it nukes on Sunday, but there's no racing! It was great of LBWC to put on the race, as there were no other races that year. I guess I can understand their outlook of it being too much trouble. Fortunately, I'm glad sailors are taking initiative now and making things happen. (Again, we appreciate your leading the way, there.) One of the biggest headaches for a race organizer I think is the issue of a committee boat. The on-the-water-rabbit-starts are a beautiful, key thing. Nice job on figuring that out. Also, all good points about getting events going, posted, etc. And also about issues of support, in terms of the give and get of supporting those who in turn support you.

Hi guys. Mark, what's up about May being your last race? Also, just a few thoughts...
"...We are San Diego Formula Windsurfing. To date, I feel that our Group forms a generous representation of the San Diego Formula scene. You were there; it was only last December 14th when we met to form our strategy, and I feel that we are well on our way, if not already there!..."
"I would guess that Joe, Eric, and Gabor are but a small fraction of the available Racers in the LA region."
"Joe has generously invited us to race with his Long Beach Group at Belmont this summer. I expect 5 to 8 of our fleet to attend. I also expect that we will outnumber the LA contingent, and thats fine. Their number has far more potential than ours. Joes (Eric & Gabor also) very participation in our events will contribute to our growth, and our participation in his races will give his LA efforts even more of a boost. We have a head start on Joe. We can help him to catch up."
So, it should be fun. We certainly welcome anyone and everyone at our races, and we're glad to be able to participate in yours, too. The more the merrier, all the way around.
