Hi All - Well made it here in one piece, but I beat the wind here. Nothing better than 8.4 so far, but it's been an experience. The lagoon gets REALLY choppy. Lots of 3 foot rollers, close together. Most days I've taken my 175 out with my 8.4 (totally flattened) or put that rig on a *board Free Formula and have just been flying (by SD standards). It's really wild to have to learn how to jump these boards, but it's necessary. I got hammered today. Flying full bore heading to a permanent triangle mark (that we use as a jibe buoy), on a free Formula and my 8.4, my legs were burning from the 1/2 mile (literally)reach as I approached the mark. About 20 yards from the mark, a set of 3 rollers about 3 feet high and 2 feet apart stood up out of nowhere. I launched off of the first, but forgot to draw my rear leg up, clipped the top of the second and got lauched into the face of the third!! haha. I haven't had a good 7.0 day yet to sail my Fireball, but that will come soon in the next few weeks I'm sure. Meanwhile, on the lighter days, I'm the only one out on the whole lagoon, as no one has anything larger than 9.0 here. Hey anyone interested in some kick ass sailing shades, check out a brand called "Lava" Their Aqua Shades are great. I ran across them in Boracay. I bought a pair from a friend in Singapore. They come with a "built in leash" that connects to an elastic band that you put around your neck. Virtually impossible to lose, even in high speed wipeouts, like the one I had today!! If your interested, I can send ya a picture, let me know. Soon as I get some sailing pixs, I'll forward a few.
