If you are looking for an option for your 3-12 year old to participate
in regular playgroups and creative learning activities, please let me
know!
A group of Central Vermont parents are forming a cooperative
called Grassroots. The idea is to rent a the school building next to
Turtle Island (formerly River Rock School) for 2-3 days per week.
We could then share supervision of time blocks, with an endless varietyof choices for activities! The space already has a beautiful artroom, large kitchen, library, seed collection, dance/creative movement spaceand access to Turtle Island's Playground, the VINS nature center, the river, and a great network of trails.
We've also talked about
collaborating with Turtle Island on an elders program (elders coming
from the Gary Home to interact with kids).
A family share would currently cost between $50-100/month, and we
would love to make it a sliding scale system, so any family could join. This averages about $8-12 a day, and would allow all your children to participate from 7:30am-3:30pm. We also would have access to evenings for planning activities.
Decisions would be made by consensus, and children would have a very
large part in the design and planning of the center and the ideas we
could offer.
This could start in September 2007, so call or email me soon if you
are interested.
