Ham radio operators are needed for Warren Civilian Emegency Responce Team (CERT). A new class is starting in July or Auguest. It is open to all Warren Residents and the cost is FREE. You must be able to pass a background check ( no felonies, no very bad driving records.) There are 6 or 7 classes, 1 a week, usually Tuesday. Classes are 3 to 4 hours long. Classes include First Aid, CPR & AED, Hazmat, Weapons of Mass Destruction, traffic management, self defense - verbal judo, utilities ( gas and electric) and weapons eduction. Classes are at the Warren Fire Dept Training Center and at the Warren Police Training Center. I've been in emergencies where hams really made the difference. Right now the classes are ONLY open to Warren Residents but hopefully soon it will be open to people who want to help from other cities or those who work in Warren.
