Gut Check - All feedback welcome

First off thank you for those teams who participated and to the great fans and parents who came. I have been reading on numerous (so many actually lol) other posts some feedback already and want you to know I have briefed through those comments that were genuinely written to make for a better tournament. It will be easier for me to get them all on one thread if you are willing. We have 2 pages of notes compiled by myself and that of our staff that we know needs to be dealt with. |
Any time you transition into a new facility there are huge changes and no matter how hard you plan, design, draw out, etc. it never happens on site the same with so many tangibles. Going into the Showare makes it that much more complex. Regardless, I am making NO EXCUSES and recognize that in order to be a top tournament all cylinders need to be firing. Since it is fresh in everybody's minds I would love to hear the wrestling communities opinions since your such a huge aspect of this tournament, Washington's tournament!
Please don't be a douche bag and post irrelevant shit, be genuine and help us work towards a better event. I also noticed many questions about specific teams not coming or why they didn't and will be happy to answer those as well.
Although we just finished this event I will be getting back to it for next year after my back surgery this week and will have plenty of recovery time to review your opinions/suggestions. Thank you for letting me do my thing. The Gut Check is my baby and I know many of you feel the same!
One main topic I obviously know about and will get out of the way was the wrestlers food and drinks being stopped at the door. This did occur by Showare staff during security entry at weigh-ins. I will take responsibility for that. I should have double checked with them and let them know it was absolutely allowed, but honestly it didn't occur to me when I was inside trying to organize weigh-ins that it would be an issue. LESSON LEARNED! The Showare staff are not wrestling folks like us and we are used to wrestlers having snacks and drinks. Being as this was Showare's first ever wrestling event, I should have known better. As soon as I was notified I immediately went to the head of security and it was resolved. Wrestlers that returned their food to their buses on Friday morning were able to get it and bring it in. This was not an issue on Saturday.
