I think I have heard 3-4 variations of the Yelm lineup on this site or by email. LOL I will personally stay with what I have until we see some actual weigh-ins. I don't think Yelm wants anyone to know their lineup until the season starts.

The last time a weight group got as light as 3A 171 will be was when Burke Barnes was a senior.

Seeding Criteria

If all three win their regional bracket then Conn will be on the same side as Garcia, so most likely his highest placing will be 3rd.

If one of them loses in the regional finals then the loser would get Garcia most likely in the semi's

Garcia, Lopez and Carter will all be wrestling in the same region.....Like last year most of the state placers are going to come out of region 4....64% of the state placers last year.

Why would he cut weight for his last year in high school when he will be looking to wrestle 165 in college. That means he needs to be a strong 170 pounds plus going into next year. Besides he can win a title at any weight he wants to be at

i heard he is weighing up around 180 anyways. 20 pounds is a huge cut for a kid that could win at any weight.

You are seriously going out on a limb. And the tree must be so tall that the lack of oxogen has impaired your thinking. In feb you will see when you get down from that tree that YELM will be 3a state team champions.

just like the last two years right. I remember seeing yelm's shirts with a picture of them in second place on the podium. It had some saying about them winning that year. Son't get me wrong second place is wonderful achievment. Wondering what their shirts will say this year though, "stick'in with second", "second is best" "can't make it to the top", "all talk and no show". All I am saying is that they like to talk a lot and say how they are going to be champions. Enough talk, prove it.

Congratulations Enumclaw for your State Championships, Very well deserved, you have great talent and great guys on your team.
I am very proud of the Yelm team and their success. This team has a goal that has been burning inside & I know they will have the heart and determanation to do their best to take State.
They have the best coaches around.
The Shirts said unfinished business(nothing wrong with that, We do have unfinished business, Have a great season and good luck to your team!

"ha ha", "Enumclaw" & "wrestling fan". First of all, I just want to note that I don't mind that you spelled his name wrong. But mostly, I don't deny that as his dad I agree that he has some skills and great work ethic. As "wrestling fan" noted & I agree, Lucas has yet to make the varsity line-up, let alone wrestle any of the proven & deserved top high school wrestlers in even one folkstyle/collegiate match yet. I will be the first to tell anyone that he does not deserve to be in any high school ranking, until after February (when it all matters). Let's all keep things in perspective, the kids still need to step on the mat and bring whatever they can bring. I just hope & pray that my son continues to improve, gains alot of wonderful experiences, continues to strive for his goals and achieves whatever it is that God has in store for his high school career & his life.

Also Congratulations to Coach Strand with his induction to the WSWCA Hall of Fame. Yelm has alot of very talented wrestlers and I wish them a very good season.

My point wasn't to say anything bad about your son or his current abilities. I was just stating that all these people that want to talk about tough freshmen coming in need to realize usually even the toughest and the best junior wrestlers, once they get to high school find it alot different sport than they were involved with in Junior wrestling or Junior high.

They are now wrestling young men maybe 4 years older in some cases even at 103 pounds. Possibly some that have only been doing it for a few years can be tough to even hang with or beat for the new kid just because of maturity and strength.

Ive seen it time and time again over the years. Other than 103 they will find that the higher weights are very difficult to compete against the older wiser young men in some cases even if the younger wrestler has more technique and skill.

That is why its such an amazing accomplishment when a freshman does come in and starts surprising people especially at the higher weights. If the incoming tough freshmen are that good people will know soon enough they don't need the added pressure from the outside before they have even stepped on a high school mat. Its tough enough already. Good luck to your son I'm sure he will grow and have all the success he wants especially with your guidence.

"Wrestling Fan", I know that your point was not to say anything bad. I was simply agreeing with you. I totally agree with everything that you said in your reply. It will be a major transition year for all incoming freshmen. All of them will have to adapt & learn as you said. It is, as you said, tough enough already without the additional pressure. Lets all be patient and see how things pan out in this coming season.

A cadet state champ will be on my radar. At 103 or 112 they are likely to be considered higher than a wrestler in a higher weight. Lucas will be on my watch list, especially if he makes the starting line-up. If not, he could very well be an impact JV wrestler in the post-season.

A great example of this is Nathan Gonzalez from Sunnyside who last year took 2nd in state as a JV.

another factor is that depending on the year and the classifications 1A 2A 3A etc some weights are easier or possibly harder than others and this to has a definite impact on the success of incoming freshman & others in a particular weight class & a particular year you just never no year to year

not sure what weight, he is talking about not trying to drop weihgt and is at about 152 will know more later that might be to heavy for him

james bradley should be ranked top 3 at 130 6th last year as a freshman and thornhill is going 140 this year

I was wondering who would go up: Benson or Thornhill. Something had to give. The early indications for Bradley's weight was 125. So he will be 130. I believe he would place higher at 130.
