You are correct that having club does not necessarily hurt the enrollment of a school. However, as Springer (I believe) said earlier, the kids on club teams do not go to the school for club wrestling. They are kids who have decided to attend that school regardless then go roll around. Not saying all are like that. It's difficult to get the same level of commitment form a kid who is getting some money and a full schedule with tournaments verses a club team. There was much promotion given to Treasure Valley and I believe at the last tournament they had 4-5 kids wrestle. On the other side, having an official team can increase enrollment. I agree that to move a club team to the NJCAA or NAIA level is very difficult because it would be nearly impossible to get the results from a club team that would warrant it moving to an official status. Hypothetically, the kids you would need to produce those results of success in order to move up are already wrestling at an official program - for the most part.
