Beyond that, I am pragmatic and I am solution-oriented. It is difficult for me to read rants about things without thinking, "How can this be resolved?". That is a big reason why I implemented those coaches panels in PNWOA years ago - in an attempt to have honest dialogue about concerns regarding the sport we all love. We are all on the same team. Heck we had a coach in one of our panels who basically expressed a concern that his team would get the lesser officials while his son's high school would always get the best officials. After raising the issue, I was able to show him that I assigned just as many state tournament officials to his events as I was to his son's school. But, he felt better about being able to raise the issue, get a response, and know that there was not some "target on his back" for daring to raise the question.
So, I will offer again. If you have an issue with your local association, I'm glad to help. If it is PNWOA, then tell me. Or, I will give you the contact info for our Board of Directors and you can raise it with them. But, having a group of coaches expressing the same concerns is the best way to have an impact and to do it with the association which services you regularly.
