Re: If a guy attacks for 5:50 and then defends for :10....
I hate this scenario: A kid hasn't done anything on his feet other than tie up and grab wrists the whole match. His opponent has taken 8 - 10 shots, gotten two takedowns, and is up 4 - 3 in the 3rd. The kid who has done nothing in neutral is able to pick up a stalling call by grabbing the attacker's head and pushing him while coach yells, "He's stalling!!" Do-nothing kid is able to tie the match in the third period by doing the exact same thing again for ten seconds. Now he's in the match by 1) stalling in neutral, 2) stalling on bottom so he gets cut twice, 3) goading the ref, and 4) having decent leg attack defense - in that order.
That isn't defensive wrestling, it's stalling that helps inferior wrestlers. And I hope the new rules for stalling - the wrestler pushing the other one out of bounds to avoid wrestling should be dinged - changes this tactic. Just moving forward isn't attacking, and being pushed backward isn't stalling.
